Apple and banana crumble

A surprisingly good combination. The apples were from Rhian’s parents’ garden and were good and sharp. I had been given them before Xmas and I’d stewed and frozen them. The apple’s sharpness complemented the sweetness of the bananas perfectly.

The crumble topping wasn’t as good as normal. I should have stuck to Nigel Slater’s ratios of flour, butter and sugar.
