Ayutthaya
We decided to break the journey from Sukhothai to Kanchanburi at the former capital of Ayutthaya. We made the journey by very comfortable first-class bus. Once we had settled into our seats the attendant came around with a small box containing a chicken leg and packet of biscuits and a bottle of mineral water. An hour from Ayutthaya the bus made a scheduled lunch stop where we were able to redeem the meal tokens which came with our bus ticket for a decent lunch.
We arrived in Ayutthaya with a few hours to look around the impressive central ruins and enjoy a walk in the park as the sun set. We made our regular stop at the night market for dinner. another delicious meal at a bargain price. The next morning we took a couple of local buses through bird filled wetlands to Kanchanburi.
