Better late then never

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

The ORPs are finishing the season strongly. We’ve won our last three games taking a maximum twenty-two points from each game and scoring 780 runs in the process. I’ve contributed two half-centuries.

Welsh psychedelic pop and runs

Two great new albums out this week The Miracle Inn from Euros Childs (his third album in eighteen months) and Hey Venus! from the Super Furry Animals. Looking forward to seeing them both live in Newcastle over the next couple of months.
I scored 64 last Saturday against Tynemouth. Should really have gone on and bagged [...]

Cricket and Gruff

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Played first cricket match of the season on Saturday. We bowled out St. George’s Rovers for 87 but we could only score 85 in reply. I was feeling comfortable on 17 when I was run out with only 10 needed to win.
We went to see Gruff Rhys last night. It was a fantastic show. Wonderfully [...]

Cricket season 2006

Thursday, May 11th, 2006

Seeing as the first test match starts today it seems as good a time as any to make my first cricket post of the season.
So far the games in which I have been involved have been competitive, maybe more so than at the start of last season, but I’ve only managed to come out [...]

E(W)CB

It’s great news that Sophia Gardens is to host an Ashes test match in 2009. It would seem that not everyone is as happy with the decision as I am though. The Hamsphire chairman Rod Bransgrove seems particularly aggrieved.
I am angry and deeply disappointed. Quite clearly the ‘W’ in the ECB is silent, but powerful.

A weekend of 6 nations rugby, indoor cricket and a disappointing steak

Tuesday, February 7th, 2006

Rhian took me out for a belated birthday meal on Friday night. We went to the recently opened (ish) Le Normand on Low Friar street. I found the idea of this place rather exciting. An unpretentious traditional French restaurant. Unfortunately the quality of the food didn’t live up to my expectations. I asked for a [...]

The Ashes

Wednesday, September 14th, 2005

Fantastic!
Was amazing to be at the ground on Sunday. A stunning perfrmance to bowl Australia out without them gaining a lead and very important when it came to the final day. I couldn’t bring myself to listen to the radio on Monday. I was terrified that I’d pick up my earphones only to hear a [...]

The end of another season

Monday, September 5th, 2005

Finished the competative cricket season on Saturday with a win over Hebburn. Our second win of the season.

Rugby, SFA and Cricket

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005

Chris played his first NPC game on Saturday. North Otago won 69-13. It seems as though the guy who writes the match reports has finally worked out that Chris isn’t English.
The new SFA single is excellent. The album Love Kraft is out next week.
CCC finished the midweek league for another season last night. We needed [...]

So near, yet so far

Monday, July 4th, 2005

Seriously pissed off with cricket on the Saturday. We were in with a great chance of winning our first game of the season. We needed thirty-odd off 6 overs to win. I was set and feeling comfortable. Hit the first two balls of an over for four, tried to repeat the first shot of the [...]
