A highlight, for me, of our visit to Mumbai was a walk around the Oval Maidan. Never have I seen such a number of cricket matches in one place. The games were packed so closely together that a bowler in one game had to be careful not to bump into the wicket-keeper in the adjacent [...]

Bengaluru (formally Bangalore) provided us with the opportunity to attend a cricket match. The quarter final of the Duleep Trophy between South Zone and Central Zone was in it’s third day when we attended. we were fortunate enough to see Rahul Dravid and Dinesh Karthik score centuries. Typically for such a match the ground was [...]

The ORPs are finishing the season strongly. We’ve won our last three games taking a maximum twenty-two points from each game and scoring 780 runs in the process. I’ve contributed two half-centuries.

Two great new albums out this week The Miracle Inn from Euros Childs (his third album in eighteen months) and Hey Venus! from the Super Furry Animals. Looking forward to seeing them both live in Newcastle over the next couple of months. I scored 64 last Saturday against Tynemouth. Should really have gone on and [...]

The Hamsphire chairman Rod Bransgrove seems particularly aggrieved. I am angry and deeply disappointed. Quite clearly the ‘W’ in the ECB is silent, but [...]

Rhian took me out for a belated birthday meal on Friday night. We went to the recently opened (ish) Le Normand on Low Friar street. I found the idea of this place rather exciting. An unpretentious traditional French restaurant. Unfortunately the quality of the food didn’t live up to my expectations. I asked for a [...]

Fantastic! Was amazing to be at the ground on Sunday. A stunning perfrmance to bowl Australia out without them gaining a lead and very important when it came to the final day. I couldn’t bring myself to listen to the radio on Monday. I was terrified that I’d pick up my earphones only to hear [...]
