Rugby, SFA and Cricket

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005

Chris played his first NPC game on Saturday. North Otago won 69-13. It seems as though the guy who writes the match reports has finally worked out that Chris isn’t English. The new SFA single is excellent. The album Love Kraft is out next week. CCC finished the midweek league for another season last night. [...]

So near, yet so far

Monday, July 4th, 2005

Seriously pissed off with cricket on the Saturday. We were in with a great chance of winning our first game of the season. We needed thirty-odd off 6 overs to win. I was set and feeling comfortable. Hit the first two balls of an over for four, tried to repeat the first shot of the [...]

Runs and wickets

Sunday, June 5th, 2005

Put in my best ever allround performance yesterday. Not only did I take my first ever ’5 for’ but I also scored 59*. Was a pleasure to share in a decent partnership with Simon, who also scored a fifty. We still didn’t manage to get our first win of the season but it was a [...]

The season progresses

Monday, May 16th, 2005

Cricket season has been a bit up and down to say the least. ORPs haven’t come close to winning since the first game of the season and I’ve been batting and bowling pretty badly. Midweek has been more productve. CCC have won their first two games including an exciting last ball victory in the cup. [...]

First game of the season

Sunday, April 24th, 2005

Played my first game for Old Record Players CC yesterday. We lost. I bowled OK. Could have been better. When I batted I missed a straight ball playing a ridiclous shot to the first ball I faced from a new bowler. Whole body aching as I managed to bowl thirteen consecutive overs. First CCC game [...]

CCC promoted

Tuesday, August 31st, 2004

All the results are in and we finished in 2nd place! Details can be found at midweekcricket.com (pdf).

Final game of the season

Wednesday, August 25th, 2004

We somehow managed to complete our final game of the season last night. It was getting pretty dark by the closing overs and it poured down moments after we left the pitch. We won the match so we are guaranteed a top 3 finish.

Rain

Monday, August 23rd, 2004

Doesn’t look like we’re going to be able to complete this seasons league fixtures. We’re meant to be playing tonight but it’s currently raining heavily. We have tomorrow set aside but a lot of drying out is going to have to take place. Watched Touching the Void on Saturday night. Incredible story but I struggled [...]

Promotion?

Monday, August 9th, 2004

We lost last weeks game when we were in position to win it. We failed to chase ninety-odd on a depressingly slow and wet pitch. I was feeling comfortable at the crease until I was run out for 12. We now need to win both of our remaining games to ensure promotion.

The agony of defeat

Lost again. Should have won.
